WHO CAN ENTER?

​We welcome every spirits beverage which is commercially available anywhere in the world.  

​ENTRY CRITERIA

・Awards will only refer to a single homogeneous batch of spirits, originating at the time of bottling from one and the same container. 
・Spirits must be labelled in accordance with the relevant provisions of the country of origin.

​​JUDGING CRITERIA

・Our judging panels consist of some of the very top spirits professionals, from Japan and internationally.
・Each entry will be tasted and evaluated within its peer group of comparable spirits.  However, the final categories will reflect the number of entries.
・Awards will be made based on merit.
 

COST TO ENTER 

・Entrants may submit as many spirits as they wish.  A handling charge of Yen 80,000 (including 8% consumption tax) will be made for each spirits entry. In order to make payment easier, we offer entrants the option to pay in Euros or US Dollars instead of Yen. Should this option be selected, the fees payable are: EUROS 700/US$ 750 for each spirits entered. 

・Entries will not be accepted without payment in full.  Please arrange your payment by Wednesday 10th September.
・Please kindly note your entry number in the details when you pay by bank transfer if possible.  This entry number will be emailed to you after receiving entry form.
・No companies will be invoiced, although each entrant will be issued with a receipt once payment has been confirmed.
・Please note that entry fees cannot be refunded.

​* Bank transfer charges by both the receiving and remitting banks must be borne by the submitter.
* An additional ¥4,000 (EUR 27 or USD 29) should be added to cover bank charges in Japan.

​* Please kindly put the Outer Carton Label on the outside of all wine boxes. 
* If you have a local distributor / agent, you may wish to arrange with them to deliver the wines ex-Japan stock (remember to complete the form stating you have done this) by forwarding your entry code label for outer cartons or asking your agent to get in contact with the Shogun Japan Spirits Competition office. 
* Please also mark on each case of wine “Samples – No commercial value”. 

* All duty, carriage, clearance, storage charges and taxes payable on wines must be pre-paid for by the Submitter. Failure to pay these duties will result in your wines not being entered. Please complete the courier documentation carefully, remembering to tick the appropriate duty and prepaid freight charges.

* Three (3) x 750ml bottles or equivalent (e.g. 6 x 375ml) must be submitted for every entry. This is to ensure sufficient for re-tastings / Trophy tastings / photographs and for the Awards Ceremony.

​​IF THE SAME SPIRIT IS ENTERED MORE THAN ONCE 

When the same spirits is submitted by more than one company, all entrants’ names will be featured equally in the report of the tasting. Fees for multiple entries cannot be refunded.

​​AWARDS AND RESULTS

Entries will be eligible for the following awards:
・Bronze
・Silver
・Gold
・Double Gold
・Trophy
・Best of Show
・Distillery of the Year
・Producer of the Year
・Importer of the Year

​・Winners will be notified by email during the week after the competition.
・The results will be announced in a special conference with media, importers, and producers immediately after the judging is completed.
・All winners will receive printed Award Certificate.
・Award medal data can be downloaded from our website at no cost, together with complimentary medal artwork for online and print promotions. 
・Winners of Shogun Trophy Awards, Best of Show, Distillery of the Year, Producer of the Year, and Importer of the Year will receive a plaque at our Awards Ceremony.
