The 12th Japan Wine Challenge was held from Tuesday 14th to Thursday
16th July 2009 at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel in Tokyo. With over
1,400 wines from 27 different countries, the Japan Wine Challenge
is now firmly established as Asia's most prestigious wine competition.
Headed by Chairman Steven Spurrier (Consultant Editor, Decanter
Magazine) and Co-Chair Lynne Sherriff MW (Deputy Vice Chair of
the Institute of Masters of Wine), the judges awarded a total
number of 59 Gold Medals, 210 Silver Medals, 509 Bronze Medals
and 366 Seals of Approval.
This year we have the eleven (11) Trophy winners, along with
the Japan Wine Challenge special Awards-18 Best of Country Awards,
White Winemaker, Red Winemaker and Sparkling Winemaker Awards
as well as best Importer. The Awards Ceremony took place on Friday
17th July at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo, Roppongi. Her Imperial Highness
Princess Takamado presented the Trophies.
